Yikes !!!

Big Big Boss is visiting from overseas. I had to make a presentation.

So, left home a good two hours ahead of time to reach the office where the presentation was being held.

Made it before time and headed straight to the canteen. Empty stomachs make bad presenters, so fed myself some egg white, bread and tea. Half an hour later was at the meeting venue.

The meeting started on time. Boss and Big Boss were in attendance too. Random stuff I noticed during the presentation ...(!!!)

Boss: All suited up....but still looking sloppy :-( Suits don't necessarily maketh a man.

Big Boss: No suit ! Horrible combination of pale yellow/brown shirt and red dotted tie.....No Good!

Big Big Boss from Overseas: No suit, No tie, pale white shirt and (gasp!!!) No vest!!!! Eeew!!!!  Aren't vests a must wear ??? Aren't they??? Aren't they??

And double Eeew!!!!! To me!! For noticing such things during the presentation!!! But tbh, the vest-less look was peeking out through the button gaps !!! Yikes!!!!

Whatever happened to formal dressing?!!

Weekends...need more of them !!!!

After a very long time, enjoyed a cool peaceful weekend.

Last two weekends, I had ambitiously decided to welcome carpenters into the home - had a huge backlog of wood work.....three precious holidays were sacrificed at the altar of housekeeping!! While carpenters took over rest of the home, we lived, ate, studied, watched TV and slept in one bedroom!! But the end result was worth the pain and home is now as good as new!!

This weekend the weather was far from humid...it was cool, light and breezy. Perfect for a laid back day filled with endless chats....Mom-in-law's visiting, so she had a lot of tales to share .....I even managed  a three hour snooze on Sunday...

Exams start this week & go on right up to the 22nd... Dear Lord, waiting for the exams to end....

Dubai Musings

Next month we have a trip planned to Dubai…R and I fly to Dubai. My leave is sanctioned and daughter has her vacations...our tickets and visas are in. Dubai in May…here we come!! Don't know how hot it’s going to be but don’t really have a choice. Since last November, the husband has been dividing his time between Dubai and Mumbai. Since having moved to Dubai he has been down here quite a few times but we haven't gone there - thanks to work and school schedules. Now that vacations have started, I’ve got my leave sanctioned and Dubai planning is well on its way!! We've drawn up the lists - of all the things that we need to buy - stuff that we will need in Dubai....got all the basics covered. Everyday after lunch, daughter calls me up…..”Let’s plan for Dubai”….And then for the next 10 minutes (before I cajole her to take a nap) we go over the same plan every single day…!! This is our third overseas trip as a family. Singapore came first, followed by US last year and Dubai this year...Plans for next year...Europe!! Honestly, I love travel and R loves it too. She makes for an amazing travel partner. No cribs, tantrums, nothing...no matter what the situation she's always willing to go with the flow. During our US trip, we ate whatever we were served…on most days it was scrambled eggs/ spiced potato. She didn’t seem to mind it at all…finishing her breakfast with a flourish and readying herself for the touristy day ahead!! The attitude makes me happy!! Touchwood!! This time since it’s a morning flight, we’ve already planned to not eat anything at home but head straight to airport, complete check-in, immigration, etc. and then head straight to a breakfast place. Have tea and croissants, maybe a sandwich. Given that we would reach way ahead of the boarding time, there will enough time to stroll around. We’ll buy books for me and her to read; coloring material, small toys maybe - then stuff it all in the carry on and proceed to boarding….. This time, I will not only take a lot of photos but will ensure that I upload it to the blog too. And I will blog every single day. Every. Single. Day. I have promised myself to breathe life back into this blog!!! And finally it’s weekend !!

Blog Another Day!!

Promises and more....I so want to blog everyday...but just can't get myself to do it after a long tiring day at work!! Wonder if I should sneak in a little blog time at work!!! Now wouldn't that be fun....!! To keep the blog going, this is what I have now decided...till date I blogged about random happenings...Now how about I treat my blog as a dear diary and write every night? Tall Order...and one that I won't match up to...But what the heck...I'll take it up as a challenge and definitely post every day...even if just have two lines to say...good night and sleep tight or good morning and have a great day!!

And its a wonderful world !!!

Have stayed away from the blog for ages...There were times when i visited my own blog and promised to write a new post...but couldn't!! Hopefully, will be able to post everyday..even if its a small line to myself. Its a beautiful day today. One that i haven't had in ages. Peace around me and peace within!! Its nice and cool outside. There's a bit of chill in the air. Blogging from my bed, i can see the beautiful lake...calm and serene...like my mind...may these days thrive!!! Plan for today: Pick up daughter from school..(who has annual day practice on Saturday..No child should have to go to school on Saturday !!!) Go the mall, lunch and catch a movie...Hasee toh Phase maybe. Am assuming it will be a child friendly movie! Shopping and then home. Exams are round the corner...so will need to factor in at least an hour of studies before we settle into Saturday night mode..!! Something different for dinner...pizza/pasta maybe..stay up until midnight..watch something good on TV and then bedtime. Saturdays...wonderful Saturday...never should you end!!!

Heads, I win...

Recently i had to work weekends - the night shift no less. Its not something that i do on a regular basis. But at times, duty beckons. So there I was rostering for the night shift. Needless to say this night shift gave R the opportunity to throw tantrums. She not only forbade me from stepping out but also proceeded to tell me what I could do in case the bosses weren’t too happy with my vanishing act. This was how the conversation went:

HB: Mamma, don’t go to work.

Me: Sweetie, we discussed this. If there was a slim chance of me not being needed, I would not have gone. And you know I don’t do this often. But if I am needed, I am needed. There are no two ways about it. So let me go. I will be back before you are up on Sunday morning.

HB: Don’t go. Call your boss and tell him you can’t come.

Me: What will I tell my boss last minute? Why can’t I go? They’ll fire me for the last minute ditch.

HB: Then you leave the job.

Me: And do what?

HB: Work in Pappa’s office. He does not work weekends or go to office at night. His office is better than yours and his boss is also good. So you work in his office.

Me: I will not know what to do in Pappa’s office.

HB: So? You can learn. You join Pappa’s office from tomorrow. He can teach you what to do. Otherwise you become a teacher and teach in my school. Then you can come home with me. And be at home on Saturday and Sunday.

Me: I can’t be a teacher.

HB: Why not?

Me: Can’t baby.

HB: But why?

(This clearly wasn’t working; so I decided to reverse the flow.)

Me: OK, now tell me this. Let’s say your school tells you to come in for an extra class on Sunday. Your teacher tells you “R, you need to attend an extra class, because it will be good for you. You and four of your best classmates have been asked to attend the class. What will you do? Will you ask me to change your school because of this one extra class Or will you miss the lecture?’

HB: (after taking a full minute to think) I will attend.

Me: Really!! Why?? Why would you go to school on a Sunday?

HB: I’ll go.

Me: But why? What is the reason?

HB: It’s a class, Mamma. And teacher is asking us to attend. It is important. So I will go.

And, before I could say ‘aha!’ R added ‘But you don’t go. You stay at home today and work in Pappa’s office from tomorrow. I will tell him to teach you what to do in his office.’

...Tails you lose!

Angry Birds and Happy Mom!!

Ranting over the "ill" effects of Angry Birds in an earlier post, I grudgingly admit to have fallen hook, line and sinker for those pesky birds. I take absolute delight in blasting the cheeky pigs. There are so many versions that entice you. Angry Birds – Space/ Seasons/Underwater. It’s like a dream come true.

I wanted something different to do in my rare free time. Something that I do just for myself; For my entertainment. Something as far removed from the tasks on my To DO list as possible. I found all that and more in Angry Birds. It’s my most absorbing passion yet.

It’s not like I don’t have a hobby. I am an avid reader. But off late the books that could hold my interest have been far and few between. So I kind of went easy on the library trips. But now with Angry Birds free times have taken on a whole new meaning. It’s my real stress buster. I am so shamelessly addicted to it that I don’t think twice over arguing with Honeybunch for iphone (read Angry Bird) time. In fact, on one occasion, I was horrid enough to ask Honeybunch to watch TV so that she will let me play in peace!! Delays, wait times don’t annoy me at all. I have downloaded several paid versions and can’t wait to demolish the various pig homes. Not just that I love to better my score and reach new high scores for every game…!! I am done with the "space" version and looking forward to complete the "underwater" too....

Have you tried it yet? Give it a shot... you are guaranteed to get hooked forever...!!

These are a few of my favourite things

1. Work - Naturally. It's the very breath i take. 2. My relationship with D - a life force. 3. Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma's Sitar for M...
